I saw a tranny post this in response to the 40% figure that we see so often in these threads. This was supposed to be the silver bullet to own the chuds. Here's why it's not.
The study was carried out in Denmark from 1972 to 2017. The median age for the study is 28, but the abstract doesn't go into detail about suicide rates by age. It also doesn't go into detail about the economic class of the participants, which has a huge impact on suicide rates.
This alone suggests the study is not representative of the trans community in 2020, which is disproportionately young and new to the trans lifestyle. This also obviously doesn't represent the American trans community which is much larger and faces different challenges.
This tweet suggests that self-reported stats don't correlate to actual suicide rates, but self-reported suicidal tendency is a very important marker for mental health and mental illness. The current figure for the trans community is between 40-52%, several degrees higher than the general population, roughly double that of the gay community, and roughly 4 times higher than the lesbian community.
But for the sake of argument, let's ignore everything I just said.
In Denmark, the suicide rate is 13.2 per 100,000 for men and 5.2 per 100,000 for women. In this study, the suicide rate is 802.8 per 100,000 for trans women and 253.4 per 100,000 for trans men. That means trans women are 60 times more likely to commit suicide than cis men and trans men are 48 times more likely to commit suicide than cis women.
The study doesn't challenge this sentiment either.

Even when the data is framed in a misleading and performative way, trans people are still significantly more likely to commit suicide than non-trans people. Keep fighting the good fight. Don't let them gaslight you.
